07/01/2026
The Farinera Girona Foundation, in collaboration with Diari de Girona, continues the “5 Tips” series with an interview with Sergi Laurent, CEO of Thalio, who shares his story about dreaming big and reinventing yourself when it seems that everything has been taken from you.
In this conversation with Adri Lacaita, Laurent explains his journey openly and without holding anything back: ambition from a very young age, the loneliness of the early days, the financial sacrifices, the unexpected blow of losing his project name and idea, and the ability to react quickly to transform a problem into an opportunity. His insight focuses on freedom, perseverance and constant action as pillars of real entrepreneurship.
In the article, Laurent summarises what he has learned into five essential tips for undertaking entrepreneurial ventures with conviction:
1. Dream big – It’s not naïveté, it’s the engine that pushes you to grow. Properly understood, ambition is personal demand and long-term vision.
2. Accept solitude, but seek an environment – Entrepreneurship can be lonely, but surrounding yourself with mentors and an ecosystem that challenges you and supports you is the difference between giving up and moving forward.
3. Save in order to buy time – Freedom comes at a price. Managing your resources well allows you to gain time to continue developing your project and protect your dream.
4. Transform obstacles into opportunities – When all seems lost, reacting quickly and courageously can strengthen the project. A brand is not just a name, but the values and people behind it.
5. Share, validate and act – Creating is just the first step. You need to show the product, listen to feedback and constantly move forward. Preparation and action generate opportunities.
