Girona: A Region with Global Talent and Entrepreneurial Ambition
29/04/2026
“We have engineers working for technology giants such as Google and Nvidia, and they are doing it remotely from Girona.”
This reflection by Daniel Ruiz-Giménez, High Performance Programme Director and mentor at Fundació Farinera Girona, highlights an increasingly evident reality: Girona is home to highly skilled talent capable of competing on a global stage without having to leave the region.
This was one of the key messages shared during the 14th AEBAN Congress (Spanish Association of Business Angel Networks), an event that brought together entrepreneurs, investors, and ecosystem leaders to discuss the opportunities and challenges surrounding innovation and business development.
The event reinforced the idea that Girona is not only a great place to live, but also a territory with the right conditions to launch, invest in, and scale projects with international ambitions. The presence of professionals working for some of the world’s leading technology companies demonstrates that the talent is already here. The challenge now is to make it more visible, retain it, and connect it so that it can generate even more opportunities, businesses, and impact.
At Fundació Farinera Girona, we share this vision and continue working to strengthen the connections between entrepreneurs, mentors, investors, and institutions, convinced that collaboration is a key driver of ecosystem growth.
We would like to recognize the work of all the individuals and organizations contributing to this effort, including Josep Prat and the BAGI Network (Business Angels Girona), Quim Gudayol and Girona Next, Juan Fran Cuello de Oro and Girona Health Hub, as well as the Girona Chamber of Commerce, for their ongoing commitment to entrepreneurship and innovation in the region.
We would also like to thank AEBAN for bringing this discussion to Girona and helping highlight the opportunities our ecosystem has to offer.
We have global talent working from here. The next step is to continue creating the conditions that allow this talent to grow, connect, and become new projects with real impact.
